The Panasonic TC-PGT30 has excellent overall picture quality, with deep black levels, accurate color, and solid video processing. It can handle 1080p/24 sources and bright rooms well and exhibits the nearly perfect screen uniformity of plasma, as well as very good 3D picture quality. It includes a Wi-Fi dongle, its Internet suite is simple to use yet content-rich, and the styling is handsome with a 1.5-inch-deep panel.
With SONY and JVC no longer manufacturing their phenomenal high-end CRT HDTVs, and Pioneer out of the Plasma business, the pursuit of picture quality is not as simple as it once was. Rest assured, however, that there are still a handful of manufacturers (i.e. Panasonic, Samsung, LG, ...) still investing in Plasma technology, because LCD is a giant leap backwards in terms of picture quality. When Pioneer - the previous undisputed leader in picture quality - left the industry, they sold their Plasma technology to Panasonic. While the amount of Pioneer technology (if any) present in Panasonic's current line-up is a matter of debate, most critics will agree that Panasonic currently holds the crown for picture quality.Viera Size Segmentation (VT30 vs. GT30 vs. ST30)------------------------------------------------I was in the market for a VT30 this year... however, in the United States, Panasonic's size options are quite restrictive. In Europe, all lines of plasma from the X up to VT are available in 42", which is the perfect size for me.In the United States, each of the 3D model lines has a different starting size: VT30: 55" - 65" (Industry leading black level, less buzzing, better speakers, 96 Hz mode for 24p, ISF calibration, ...) GT30: 50" - 65" (Better black level, +1 HDMI port and VGA input, THX certified) ST30: 42" - 65" (Entry-level 3D TV) S30: 42" - 60" (1080p 2D plasma, worse motion clarity than ST30 and no 3D support) X3: 42"…

51-Inch 3D Slim Plasma HDTV with 1080p Resolution
I am very pleased so far with this TV. I have bought several large flat panel TVs over the last few years and this one I am really pleased. I have been pleased with Samsung in general and only buy Samsung now for displays/TVs at this point (have 4 large screen TVs and 5 monitors in my house). As others have mentioned, it is a new model for this year and really packs a ton of features in for the price. I love plasma (over LED and LCD) and was really surprised how the weight has come down. The picture is great. One feature I really wanted to make sure I got was the ethernet input because with more and more stuff moving to internet, I felt it would be a good idea to have. I am finishing a basement and have the opportunity to run the ethernet right to where i will put this tv. Don't get me wrong, the built in WIFI works perfectly too, I just wanted to have this option too and many other models don't have this. One thing I was not aware of is that it doesn't have a VGA input. I was planning on using that to hook up a computer. For me its not a big deal as I can use HDMI, but thought I would mention as I didn't notice that before ordering. Overall I think this is a great TV and a great deal - would definitely recommend and I am seriously considering buying another one for another room (yes, I have been told I have a problem with buying too many TVs).UPDATE (4/15/12) - After several days of usage, I noticed a buzzing sound when sitting in just the right (or wrong depending on how you…

I was a die hard LED owner and I never thought I would ever consider purchasing a plasma. However over 95% of the LED LCD TVs on the market today use cheap LED edge lighting. This TV puts even FULL BACK-LIGHT LED TVs to shame. The picture is uniform. The colors are vibrant. Fast action scenes look great. The blacks are black not grey like on an LED LCD. Also, the 5,000,000 : 1 contrast ratio is apparent. I was watching a basket ball game and it was so real I felt like I was at the game. I have not had a chance to use the 3d, as I don't really care about 3d, but I will update my review once I use it.The design is also wonderful. It is only 1 1/4 inches deep and energy efficient. Also, it has unlimited streaming options and APPS built into the TV - via the Samsung Smart HUB.

PROS:-- TV Picture is really excellent-- Vizio Apps seem well thought out-- Netflix streaming picture quality is astonishingly good-- Vizio's customer support is outstanding-- Surprisingly good sound from internal speakers-- Amazon price was excellent-- toggle "wheel" function on remote is excellent and slide out keyboard is a bonusCONS:-- Some initial issues required resetting TV-- Screen has a moderately high amount of reflection-- transport buttons on remote (pause, play, stop, FF, RW, etc.) are way too small-- remote not lit at all, bring a flashlight-- would not wirelessly connect with my Cisco M-20 Valet Plus routerMy Setup: I bought this along with an Onkyo TX-NR809 A/V receiver so the only cable (currently) connected to my Vizio TV is an HDMI cable from my receiver. It looks as if I will need to connect an RCA (or other audio) cable from the TV back to my receiver to enable sound from the apps (like Netflix) to run through my receiver and external speakers. The TV seemed to work fine out of the box, but I bypassed the initial setup as I wanted to temporarily hook it up directly to my cable box to ensure the TV worked okay. When I re-wired everything through my new receiver, the TV malfunctioned repeatedly by shutting down after about 10 seconds (picture came on, froze, then TV shut off). I had read one other review about this problem and feared that my TV was doomed, but a call to Vizio (a live tech answered within about 15 seconds!) walked me through the reset…

As with most guys buying a new expensive electronic toy I did weeks worth of research on TV's. My previous TV was a 2007 Samsung plasma (720p) and I really loved it for the time that I had it but I was intrigued by the new LED line of TV's. Before doing research I thought that this was the future and that plasmas were going to be phased out but I soon found out this is not the case. In fact LED TV's are no more than LCD TV's with LED backlighting while true LED's (OLED) being thousands of dollars for 42" models and scarce availability.Regardless I went out and bought what I felt was a bargain, a 60" Sharp Aquos Quattron 60LE832U from BJ's for $1,799. It was thin, had wireless connectivity built in, 60", and cheap for what you got. The picture was good but I soon noticed a lot of artifacts in the picture. The color from the factory was overly bright and oversaturated. I am usually one who likes a slightly less realistic picture in favor of slightly more saturated and vivid images too but this was over the top. No matter what I could not get the picture quality right and there were definitely motion issues even with the claimed 240Hz aquamotion. Turns out it isn't truly 240Hz and it suffers from the same motion issues that all LCD's are plagued with. Frustrated I looked over to the plasma side but was apprehensive because in the store plasmas always look horrible. Their pictures are dull and over-brightened to where the blacks look gray and they are always next to…

Mitsubishi WD-73738 3D DLP Home Cinema TV offers a larger than life, intensely vivid 2D, and fully immersive 3D viewing experience. In huge screen size of 73", Mitsubishi 3D DLP Home Cinema TVs deliver incredible picture performance at an exceptional value, and completely define the large screen 3D entertainment category.
This is by far the best projection TV I have ever owned. The picture is near perfect and when watching football it is truely TV Heaven. I would recommend this TV to anyone. I would have gotten the 82" if I had a wall or an entertainment center big enough to accommodate it. The only negative was the delivery service would not remove the TV from the box and make sure it powered up before they left as instructed on the packing slip.

...although I should thank Amazon Warehouse for first sending me a busted-up 50" version of last year's C8000 or I may never have experienced the awesomeness of the 59" D8000!The great (and exhaustive) information at AVSFourm lead me to this beauty, which I purchased from BuyDig due to Amazon Warehouse hanging me up on a C8000 replacement, and then Amazon taking forever to get the new 2011 Samsungs into inventory and listed for sale. I've got mine paired up with a Samsung BD-D6700 3D Blu-ray Player using AmazonBasics High Speed HDMI Cable. I wall mounted the set with a Sanus Vlt14-B1 Super-Slim Tilt Mount bracket. I'm using Samsung's SSG-3100GB 3D Glasses that came as part of the Shrek/Megamind 3D Starter Kit, which was included as a promotional item with this set.Regarding picture quality: - Simply outstanding. Crisp definition. True colors that aren't overly bright or artificial. Inky black blacks. - No ghosting or shadows. Great with fast action and camera panning. Haven't tried video games. - No sign of jutter or film effect; the high refresh rate makes any motion smooth and realistic, especially noticeable in-store when comparing this side-by-side with a lower refresh TV. - Not so hot as a PC monitor with respect to reading tiny text.If you're worried about the size possibly being too big: - I thought I was pushing my luck after my wife commented that the broken 50" C8000 that showed up at our front door (but was never mounted) looked "too big."…

Sixty inches of beautiful screen - that's what Panasonic's TC-P60GT30 has going for it. With its appealing combination of performance and value, it's a great way to enjoy a theater-like viewing experience at home. Connect a 3D Blu-ray player, don a pair of 3D glasses, and watch as the movie action bursts through the boundaries of your screen. Since 3D content is still scarce, you can use this set's 2D-to-3D conversion feature to add a nice sense of depth to 2D programs. Even standard 2D video viewed without glasses looks stunningly beautiful.
Looking for a tv can be a long and tedious process. You want to make the right choice. You pour over reviews and develop a list of pros and cons. Atleast I did. It is easy to get bogged down the nitty gritty. You can go on forums and read all the pros and cons written by well meaning people, if not a tad geeky. They may point out things that you would never catch in the 1000 years. Fluctuating black levels? Oh NO! But, don't let that scare you from taking the plunge. First off I worried about the shipping. My goodness, how are they going to shipped this delicate tv from Japan to the Midwest? I never bought anything this costly and this big. What do I do if it is damaged, yadda yadda yadda. Well it came in perfect condition, not a scratch on the box. Always a good sign. Well I will save you all the boring details but the delivery and set up went way beyond my expectations. Totally satisfied. I have no regrets about the process of buying/shipping through Amazon. The TV is amazing. The 3d is worth every penny. I watched the NBA Finals last night through DTV and ESPN3d. The clarity was unbelievable! I looked at Samsung and LG and I think Panasonic is just a pinch better made and has a better picture overall. I glad I bought it and I would buy it again. I just wish it could play AVI files through Viera Link. The 3d works great even at a distance of 16 feet from the TV. Don't let the 3d scare you that is is just a fad, yeah it's early, but its coming and Panasonic delivers 3d in true…

Pros: Very, very good picture. Black colors are very dark, inky for my first time. 24fps, 1080P full HD is what it does best. 3D is better than what I was expecting. Apps are cool and launch pretty quickly. Off angle viewing is good, better than my older LCD.Cons: Pricey. Qwerty keyboard remote is funky, a little awkward. Browser needs improvement. 3D requires glasses, wish they didn't. Plasma uses more power than LCD.Summary: I have owned my PN59D8000 for about two weeks now. So far it's been excellent to good. First the excellent; the picture. This is what it's all about to me. What's the point of getting a new TV if it doesn't produce a great picture. The PN59D8000 makes a great picture. I'm no Cnet David Katzmaier, I haven't seen hundreds of TV's, but I do know what I like when I see it and I think this TV makes a very good, to great picture. I really enjoy watching a good, well made, high visual content movie in full 1080P HD, 24fps. I have watched standard def, 1080 I/P HD and high def 3D. The standard def is good, better than my older 52" A650 Samsung LCD in several ways, but no matter how you cut it, it's still standard def. The HD picture is what it's all about, it's excellent, with blacks so dark and inky, the best I've seen so far. The contrast and detail is excellent. Very smooth transitions, panning. 3D is cool, different, awkward. At first, I tried watching some ESPN 3D NBA (Directv) during the daytime in a well lit room & I really noticed the flashing,…

Panasonic VIERA TC-P65VT30 55-Inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV
SIMPLY STUNNING....I bought this TV from another online retailer, but still wanted to post the review here on amazon since I buy here frequently and I appreciate a lot the fact that people take time to review products, which has help me to make wise shops. As I was saying, before buying this TV, I did a lot of research here and on home theater forums, cnet, plasma guide, etc. And most of them agreed that this TV had the best picture of 2011 and if not it was second, just behind the Samsung PND8000, So it was clear to me, that this tv was what I wanted, but the only "little" problem was the price, because my budget was no more than $1500, so I went with a less expensive set, also from panasonic the GT30 and it arrived with the screen totally broken, then I decided to go with the LG950pz and it arrived perfectly, but the image was very poor. Yep I was disssapointed so I decided to take the last shot and make the "Big" move and spend the $2300 I paid for this TV. And let me tell you that it is worth every penny, the image its simply incredible in 2d (I have not tried 3d yet, since Im not much into it)NFL games broadcasts looks amazing in game mode, but when you really squirt the picture of this TV is with Blu-ray, So far I have seen Thor, X-men, Life documentary and I am legend in blu-ray on the preset THX mode, and boy its sweetness to my eyes all the way. This TV has many possible picture adjustments, right now Im making a research on the best calibrations for…

I purchased this TV back in August of 2011. I bought it to replace my Sony Bravia 52XBR9 LCD that was starting to get panel failure. So far I have been pleased with the TV and especially the price I paid in comparison to the size of the TV. There have definitely been some trade-offs with changing from an LCD to a Plasma, but nothing too major.PictureThis TV is definitely a lot darker than my Sony LCD, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I use the TV for video games and I would prefer a bit brighter of a screen, but movies look fantastic with the darker picture. The picture is comparable to the Sony (I played Scott Pilgrim Vs The World on Blu-ray with both TV's side by side), but definitely not as crisp (I know I'm comparing a top of the line Sony to a middle end LG). Overall, the picture is great and I love having a 60". The extra 8" makes a world of difference to me.There are two Cons with this TV for me. The first is image retention. There is noticeable image retention after having something on the screen for a short while. As mentioned earlier, I play video games on this TV and I can usually see the HUD retained on the screen when the screen goes black. Watching videos with black bars on the screen will also cause image retention. This is minor because the image washes away when something new and bright comes on the screen. I am a bit paranoid now with leaving the screen on. I find that I turn the TV off anytime I pause a game because I'm worried I'll get burn in.…

This is very awesome TV. Watch over the air HD and movies. Picture is sharp, nothing like it with blue-ray. 3D is fantastic, from 2ft to 20ft, I set about 6ft and just amazed. It has less heat than my 26in LCD. Highly recommend this 54in plasma 3D.Have not had any reflection problems. From a 3d novice:I am coming from a 6 year old Panasonic 50 inch Plasma that was essentially a HD monitor. Back when I was shopping for an HD option, this was the best bargain to be found. I had to add an HDMI card and a splitter to make it work...but the quality was amazing.I was not particularly looking for a 3D television, but had been shopping these for quite some time when CDnet rated the Samsung its best of 2011.When I clicked through Amazons pricing, it sealed the deal. This was an incredible price for a t.v. of this quality. The comparable Panasonic I had been stalking was almost twice what I ended up paying for this one.First of all, the 4 HDMI inputs allowed me to eliminate a literal bag full of wiring to my home theater system. I simply eliminated the HDMI splitter, wired everything into the T.V. (Direct T.V. DVR, 3d blueray player, home computer etc...) and then ran the optical audio back to the the theater system...done.The HD picture quality on this set is incredible out of the box, and with some minor tweaking it is unbelievable....but the real story is the 3d.I had ordered a video called "The Seven Wonders of the Solar System" when I ordered the set, and it arrived the same day. By the time I had the system set up, it was dark, so I turned off all the lights, set up the glasses and put in the video. In the dark, the 3d quality creates the effect of a moving, 3 dimensional hologram floating in the room. That is the only way I can describe it... absolutely…
